The LP Generator is Gaining Power
When Gregg and Sandy decided to invest in a standby home generator, they quickly decided on going with a LP Generator for three reasons and here's why...

1st Good Reason To Select a LP Generator
You Have a Much Greater Chance at Having Fuel With a LP Generator
When power outages hit due to weather conditions spawned by the likes of Katrina and the Ice Storm of 2009, normal fuel supplies such as gasoline and diesel fuels are usually cut off totally! In the 2009 Ice Storm that essentially paralyzed parts of the northeast, at one point 700,000 customers in Kentucky were without power, estimates the state's Public Service Commission. Ice covered trees and power lines had fallen and blocked roads. Things had become so bad, that the National Guard had to be brought in, which registered the largest mobilization in the state's history.
In Arkansas, residents did their best to maintain under similar brutally cold conditions. But what can you do with as much as two inches of ice and up to a half-inch of snow on the ground and no let up in sight? Of course, with the roads closed, if you didn't have a standby generator with at least at least a week worth of fuel on hand, you were in trouble. That brings me to my next reason...
2nd Good Reason To Select a LP Generator
Storing Fuel Is Not an Issue With an LP Generator
When getting a back up generator, one of the first questions you must ask and answer is, "What type of fuel will I use?" Of course, gasoline is the most commonly used fuel but the problem with gas is; you can only store so much. Due to it's toxic nature and combustion issues, many local ordinances forbid the storage of more than six gallons of gasoline unless the location passes pretty stringent inspections and receives a special permit. Another issue is; gasoline has a normal useful life of about 6 months.
Diesel fuel is not much different than gasoline in regards to storage; you must have a permit and many local ordinances won't allow diesel fuel to be stored in residential areas. With LP fuel, you have no such restrictions! You can actually get propane tanks with capacity enough to power your back up generator for seven to nine days.
3rd Reason To Select a LP Generator
These units are much more quieter and efficient than their gasoline and diesel counterparts. Many of the manufacturers of residential standby generators have designed the units to output the same noise level of a central air conditioning unit. That means while it's running, you won't even notice it! The first generation of standby generators was loud enough that they caused neighbors to lose sleep and that's not a good thing.
